NCAA Football Top 25 Preview: #17 Houston Cougars

Houston Cougars (2015 record 13-1)

Pass yards per game: 247.4 (43rd)

Rush yards per game: 239.5 (13th)

Points scored per game: 40.6 (tied 12th)

Points allowed per game: 20.5 (tied 19th)

The Houston Cougars came within 3 points of an undefeated season. A lost to the UConn huskies 20-17 prevented that from happening. The Cougars where one of the most balanced teams in the country, ranking in the top 45 in rushing and passing yards per game. A big reason that was possible was QB Greg Ward Jr. Ward threw for over 2,800 yards and also ran for over 1,100. Their season waa capped with a 38-24 victory over FSU in the Peach Bowl.

The AAC Conference has some pretty good defenses and it will be very interesting to see of Ward and his Houston Cougars can make a run similar to last year or will that high powered offense be tamed this year.
