It’s finally official, the Boston Celtics announced earlier today that Paul Pierce has signed the final contract of his career and will retire a Celtic, Closing out his career with the team he made a name with.

“We’re honored that Paul has chosen to retire as a Celtic. He is among the very best Celtics, a champion on and off the court,” Wyc Grousbeck said earlier today. “We congratulate Paul on a Hall of Fame career, and look forward to seeing his number raised to the rafters of TD Garden.”

After the paperwork was in order, Pierce just couldn’t keep away from the parquet He laced up one last time and shot around the teams practice facility.

The Truth retires the organizations 2nd all-time leading scorer (24,021) and the teams all-time leader in 3 pointers (1,823), free throws (6,434), and steals (1,583). Plus let us not forget 2008 finals MVP.

The City of Boston will forever love you Paul, you brought us many memories and moments through your run. You brought home a championship like the many greats before you, and showed why you were the captain. So, the only question that remains for us now is, what date is your jersey retirement ceremony.
