23. WASHINGTON STATE COUGARS

2016 record: 8-5 (7-2 in conference)

Pass yards per game: 362.5

Rush yards per game 120.0

Points scored per game: 38.2

Points allowed per game: 27.2

The Washington state cougars had one of the more potent aerial attacks in college football in 2016. QB Luke Falk had 4,468 pass yards a 70% completion rate and 38 TDs. The team had 7 receivers over 340 yards receiving, led by WR Gabe Marks with 89 rec 894 yards and 13 TDs. There wasn’t much of a running game to speak of and the defense surrendered 27.2 ppg so the big passing numbers were definitely out of necessity.

With Marks now a New York Jet, Luke Falk will have to rely on WR Tavares Martin Jr. to step up and be his new number 1 target. In the Pac 12 where scoring is at a premium, look for this Cougars team be in its fair share of shootouts throughout the 2017 campaign.
