NCAA Preseason top 25 countdown: #21 Texas Longhorns
21. TEXAS LONGHORNS
2016 record: 5-7 (3-6 in conference)
Pass yards per game: 252.0
Rush yards per game: 239.3
Points scored per game: 31.9
Points allowed per game: 31.5
In 2016 the Texas Longhorns were one of the more balanced offenses in all of college football. They averaged 252 pass yards per game and just about 240 rush yards per game. The biggest issue for the Longhorns was its defense that gave up just as much as that balanced offense scored. A 3-6 conference record leaves alot to be desired but team is looking to have a far better 2017.
With QB Shane Buechele at the Helm, new head coach Tom Herman looks to turn Texas back into a college football powerhouse. The task will be tougher without RB D’Onta Foreman who took his 2,028 rush yards and 15 TDs to Houston Texans of the NFL. The Longhorn have some tough road games in 2017 but the season will be one to watch.
