ScarecrowGrin Fantasy Football Weekly: Sept. 7th, 2017

The 2017 season starts off on a tough and weird note. Alot of drafts were already in the books when Julian Edelman and Spencer Ware went down with injuries, putting owners behind the 8 ball early. The will he or won’t he regarding Ezekiel Elliott is another issue fantasy owners are dealing with at the moment. The postponement of Miami vs Tampa Bay due to inclement weather has to be the icing on the cake. Guys like Mike Evans, Jameis Winston, Jay Ajayi, Jarvis Landry and Devante Parker were penciled in as week 1 starters for plenty of teams, now your teams depth or lack there of has to be on display in week 1.

All that aside, it’s time to look at players that will help you start 1-0 and ultimately win your fantasy league.

In fantasy football there are some usual suspects when it comes to success. The Aaron Rodgers and Antonio Browns of the world are a given but consistent guys like Greg Olsen and Demarco Murray can be the deciding factor. Murray was 4th among RBs in fantasy points last season and racked up over 1,650 total yards, 53 receptions and 14 total TDs (9 rushing, 3 receiving and 1 passing). Olsen had his 3rd straight 1,000 yard season in 2016. Rob Gronkowski and Jordan Reed get the hype but Olsen is always there producting while the other 2 cant be relied upon due to constant injury issues.

Consistent points is the key to fantasy success. With guys like Olsen and Murray combined with the up and coming fantasy stars like Marcus Mariota and Amari Cooper, a fantasy title can be in your near future.

Up and comers, consistent guys and now the bounce back group. The NFL is a passing league so this will consist of WRs. DeAndre Hopkins, Dez Bryant and Kelvin Benjamin are players to have on your roster. Bad QB play, injuries or just a flat out bad year are in the past as they players look to put up numbers more reflective of their abilities.

The fantasy world is waiting to see what Rookies Christian McCaffrey and Joe Mixon can bring to the table. Both guys are on teams with good veteren RBs but it seems to only be a matter of time before they are the main guys in their respective backfields.

Of the week 1 games there are a few that could be shootouts. Be sure to get players from these games into your line up.
