In the first rematch of this young season, the Washington Redskins come into Philadelphia on Monday night football looking to avenge a week 1 loss. Carson Wentz has made this Eagles offense one of the leagues best with his improvisation under pressure and precision passing. Kirk Cousins is once again one of the NFL’s most efficient passers as this divisional match up should be a good one.

Washington takes the opening kickoff and puts together a good drive, the key play was a huge pass to Vernon Davis down the seam but the drive ended with a short Nick Rose field goal, giving them a 3-0 lead. Philly’s first drive started with 4 straight penalties putting them in 1st & 30. After a 1 yard loss by LeGarrette Blount, Wentz attempts a deep pass that was intercepted by Washington’s Quinton Dunbar. The Redskins wasn’t able to capitalize on great field position as the go 3 & out. On Eagles next drive an incompletion, a Kenjon Barber 2 yard run then a sack of Carson Wentz saw Donnie Jones come on the field to punt the ball back to Washington. Jamison Crowder was hit and fumbled the punt but the Redskins were able to fall on it. Kirk Cousins and his offense starts the possession backed up to their own 7 yard  line but a big pass to Niles Paul got them out of that hole rather quickly. After a nice start the drive stalls near midfield and they are forced to punt. Another Eagles penalty backs them up again and after 2 Wendell Smallwood runs ,Wentz hits Alshon Jeffrey for a first down. A Carson Wentz 11 yard scramble with a face mask tacked on is how we end the first quarter.

The quarter starts with another Redskins face mask moving Philly to the 33 yard line. Another sack of Wentz moves them out of field goal range but a short catch and run by Nelson Agholor sets up a 50 yard attempt by kicker Jake Elliott that he drilled. We are all knotted up at 3. Cousins and his offense came out on their next possession and flew down the field and found Chris Thompson for a 7 yard TD pass as Washington regains the lead 10-3. Another quick Eagles 3 & out sends the ball back to Washington with 8:17 remaining in the first half. A good 3 plays by the Philly defense forced Tress Way to come in punt the ball back to the Eagles. After a hard sack, Wentz comes out and throws a 64 yard bomb to rookie WR Mack Hollins to tie the game up at 10-10.

The next Redskins possession started with a 7 yard pass to Chris Thompson but 2 less than productive plays saw them have to punt after the 2 minute warning. The Redskins were in able to keep Wentz in the pocket as he scrambles to the left for a first down then hit TE Zach Ertz on a 46 yard pass to set his team up in the red zone. A pass interference in the end zone puts the Eagles at the 1 yard line looking for their first lead of the contest. After Blount is stuffed for a short loss Wentz finds Ertz on a 4 yard TD to make it 17-10 Eagles. A Washington Kneel sends us to the intermission.

The 2nd half starts with a short LeGarrette Blount run then a nice out route to Agholor for a first down but after the play All-pro left tackle Jason Peters stayed down with what looks to be a significant right leg injury. After the Peters injury the Philadelphia offense started gaining huge chunks of yards on there way to a goal to go situation and an eventual Wentz 9 yard TD pass To Corey Clement to make the score 24-10 Eagles. Washington comes out with a couple passes to TE Jordan Reed but they could only muster 1 first down and the Jim Schwartz defense forced them to punt again. Kirk Cousins and the Redskins offense finally look to have found some rhythm as a Jordan Reed catch puts them inside the 5 yard line. The next play would be a quick slant back to Reed as they cut the lead in half. The score is now Philadelphia 24 and Washington 17 as the the 3rd quarter comes to a close, the Eagles have a 7 points and are looking for more.

Carson Wentz opens the quarter with a scramble of 17 yards that came on a play where he looked to be sacked. The drive continued and Nelson Agholor would be the recipient of the Next Wentz touchdown pass, this one was from 10 yards out. Philadelphia opens the lead back up to 14 points. Washington wasn’t able to get any momentum as Cousins arm was hit on a throw and the ball went directly into the hands of DB Corey Coleman. Philly takes over just outside the red zone. No real movement after the pick but another Jake Elliott kick makes it 34-17 Eagles.

Washington comes out in the No Huddle offense trying to out some points on the board in hopes of a miraculous comeback. Redskins big free agent signing Terrelle Pryor has been a huge disappointment thus far this season and tonight was no different. When he did see the field he’s ran the wrong routes or just dropped passes. Another Jordan Reed TD from Cousins makes it 24-34 with 3:17 remaining. An unsuccessful onside kick sets Philly up at the 50 yard line. After a Clement fumbled handoff that he was able to fall on, the Eagles call upon LeGarrette Blount to close this game. A few runs sets up a 45 yard attempt By Elliott that he misses off the right goal post, Washington takes over possession but there’s really nothing Washington can do. Another dominant Eagles performance puts Them atop the NFL with a 6-1 record.
