Week 10 kicks off on Thursday night football with a NFC West showdown between the Cardinals and the Seahawks. Arizona is coming in off a win where new Cardinal Adrian Peterson carried the ball a career high 37 times and Seattle comes in after a tough 3 point home loss where kicker Blair Walsh missed 3 field goals. Both teams are chasing the division leading Rams and are looking for a big win to close the gap a bit.

Seattle receives the opening kick and after a 1st down completion to Jimmy Graham, Arizona stops Thomas Rawls behind the line then sacked Russell Wilson and forced a punt. After the kick the Cardinals started just over midfield. The first play by Bruce Ariana offense was an Adrian Peterson fumble that was recovered by Seattle. The 2nd Seahawks drive starts inside Cardinals territory but it ended in another 3 & out and punt. Drew Stanton and Arizona’s offense start their 2nd drive pinned back against their own goal line, they weren’t able to get anything going as the drive would end with another punt. Wilson and his offense starts their 3rd drive near the 50 again. Wilson looked like the elite Quarterback he is on this drive as he finds Doug Baldwin twice and Graham twice. Grahams  2nd catch was a 6 yard TD to give them the 7-0 lead.

Arizona starts their next drive with a face mask against Seattle, the penalty gave them some life as they were able to work into Seahawks territory. On a 3rd & 6 Larry Fitzgerald draws a pass interference to keep the drive alive then a hands to the face gives Arizona another first down. And on the very next play Sheldon Richardson went low on Stanton and received a personal foul. To close the quarter Seattle gave Arizona 4 first downs via penalty. When the 2nd quarter begins the Cardinals are in the red zone.

The first play of the 2nd quarter was a tight end screen to Jermaine Gresham for a 14 yard TD tying the game up at 7-7. Seattle’s next drive had some momentum but surprise surprise a penalty pushes them back and stalls the drive. They punt it back to Arizona. A Cardinals penalty put them at their own 1 yard line and Seattle swarms Peterson in the end zone for the safety making the score 9-7. After the free kick is received, Russell Wilson is sacked for a loss of 8 yards to open his next possession. A near interception and another sack forces them to punt again. Stanton goes 3 & out again. Pete Carroll’s team found a running attack on their next drive as J.D. McKissic and Thomas Rawls were very involved on a possession that ends with a 33 yard field goal by Walsh making the score 12-7. Arizona gets the ball back and 2 quick passes, 1 to Gresham then 1 to Fitzgerald puts the team on the Seattle side of the field. An Andre Ellington drop made it 4th and 9 but Arians decided to go for it. A good pass by Stanton wasn’t pulled in by J.J. Nelson and Wilson takes over on downs. Play number 1 was a 42 yard pass to Paul Richardson that puts them on the Cardinals 19. A holding penalty moves them back and Walsh would hit a 43 yarder to make it 15-7 at halftime.

Arizona starts the 2nd half with a lot of Adrian Peterson as he gets the ball on the first 8 non penalty plays of the possession but the drive would stall and end with a Phil Dawson 43 yard field goal that makes the score 15-10. On a weird series of events, Russell Wilson is hit under the Chin by Karlos Dansby and a penalty was called. The refs sent Wilson to the sideline for what I assumed was a concussion test but Wilson merely walked into the tent then walked back out. He missed one play then reentered the game. The Hawks would ultimately punt and Stanton started his following possession with some good passes to move the ball but they to would end up returning the favor of a punt. The Seahawks offense takes the field and begins to move closer to Arizona territory as we reach the end of the 3rd. Seattle continues to hold the 15-10 lead.

The 4th quarter opens with the camera on Richard Sherman as he mouthes “I TORE MY ACHILLIES” to a few of his teammates. That’s a huge loss to a team with super bowl aspirations. On the field Russell Wilson continued to make plays, he found Doug Baldwin on a scramble drill for a 54 yard gain down to the 2 yard line. The next play was a TD pass to Jimmy Graham to make the score 22-10. The Cardinals go 3 & out and now Seattle has the look of a team that knows this one’s in the bag, they dont muster much offense and has to kick it away. Arizona got the ball back and drove down into the red zone only to turn it over on downs with just over 4 minutes to play. Seattle burns some clock and punts it back to Arizona with just over 2 minutes to go. Stanton is able to work the ball down to the 1 yard line and Andre Ellington punches it in with 20 seconds remaining. The extra point was blocked so the score is 22-16. After an unsuccessful onside kick attempt, Wilson takes a knee and this one is in the books
