The NFC East is one of the more entertaining divisions in football and Cowboys vs Eagles is one of the most fierce rivalries in all of sports. This one is even more intriguing with the Eagles having the best record in the league and Dallas in full desperation mode minus some big names. Wentz vs Prescott is a match up we all should get accustomed to seeing.

Rookie Ryan Switzer starts the game with a 61 yard kick return setting the Cowboys up at the Eagles 37 to open things up. Dallas is unable to move much and they are forced to take a 48 yard Mike Nugent kick that makes it 3-0. Wentz starts his first possession with 2 quick completions to Torrey Smith and Some good runs by Jay Ajayi and LeGarrette Blount moves Philly into the red zone fairly quickly. After a nice catch, Kenjon Barner caps the drive with a short TD run. Eagles now lead 7-3. On the Cowboys 2nd possession they got some much needed production from Alfred Morris and the running game. The team totaled 39 rushing yards on the drive which is a lot against this stout Eagles front as they moved inside the 10 yard line but are forced to take another field goal. Philly will get the ball back with a 7-6 lead. Wentz gets just into Cowboys territory but the Dallas defense stiffens and forces them to punt. The next possession starts with a Dak Prescott pass that is tipped at the line, bounces off Terrence Williams hands and ends up an interception but Rodney McLeod. Philadelphia takes the field at the Cowboys 15 yard line in great scoring position but didnt gain a yard and settled for a Jake Elliott kick that he missed from 34 yards out. Dallas retakes possession and a short run by Rod Smith brings and end to quarter number 1.

The 2nd quarter opens with 4 straight 3 & outs, two by both teams. The first drive of this quarter that didnt end in a 3 & out, ended with a Ronald Darby interception of an ill advised Dak Prescott 3rd down pass. Philly follows the turnover up with another 3 & out. Dez Bryant is responsible for the first first down of the quarter as we are more than half way through the period. Dallas puts together a methodical drive that took the clock down to inside a minute but again they are forced to take 3, Dallas regains the lead 9-7. After a near interception by Wentz the Eagles are forced to punt. A Prescott knee sends us to the intermission.

We start the 2nd half after seeing an old fashioned NFC East slug fest in the first. Philadelphia opens the half with a solid drive that saw Corey Clement carry the ball a few times and his final run was an 11 yard TD. With no kicker due to injury, they go for 2 and convert. The score is now 15-9. The Cowboys first drive of the 2nd half started with two good Morris runs that takes the Cowboys into Eagles territory but the drive stalled and they punted back to the Eagles. Philly got the ball and began to make their possessions count, The drive is kicked off by a 71 yard run by Ajayi, taking it to the 15 of Dallas. Carson Wentz would cap the drive with an 11 yard TD pass to Torrey Smith when a 2pt conversation to Alshon Jeffrey to make the score 23-9. Morris starts the drive with another good run as he creeps toward a 100 yard night but it wont have any impact on the outcome of this one, Dallas is stopped on 3rd & 2 play that left alot of people scratchung their heads and have to kick it away. After a few Eagles plays the 3rd quarter comes to a close as the home team trails 23-9.

the Eagles have established themselves as they look to be just beating the Cowboys up now. Blount and Ajayi are breaking off chunk runs as they move down the field into scoring position again.  The Cowboys manage to force a 4th & 5 but Wentz finds Jeffrey on an inside slant for another TD and after a missed 2 pt attempt the score is 29-9. The Cowboys takes the field with just under 12 minutes and a 20 point deficit looking cut into Philly’s lead, what happened next was a strip sack by rookie Derrick Barnett and its scooped up and ran in for a score by Nigel Bradham to make it 35-9, the 2 pointer makes it 37-9. The flood gates have officially opened. on desperation mode the Cowboys move down the field quickly but a 3rd Prescott interception, this time in the endzone is how the drive would end. Philadelphia runs some clock and punts it back to Dallas. With this game all but over the Cowboys wave the white flag as the back ups come into the game. After a Cowboys punt Wentz takes 3 knees and headz back to Philly with a 9-1 record.

It was a tale of two halves as neither team gained much ground through the first 30 minutes but that all changed after the break. The Philadelphia Eagles defense kept the Cowboys out of the End zone and harassed Dak Prescott into 3 uncharacteristic interceptions, 4 turnovers when u add the fumble. This team looks to be the real deal and it will be interesting to see how far they can take this. The Cowboys on the other hand looks to be in a bad way right now.
