The defending NFC champs found a way to get into the playoffs on the last day of the regular season. Offensive coordinator Steve Sakisian has taken a lot of heat after they weren’t the juggernaut on offense like the were under Kyle Shanahan but that’s all in the past now. The super bowl hang over looked to be a real thing all year but at the end of the day they were able to pull it together and get in.

Being part of the toughest division in football by far was another reason for them not looking as sharp as last year. The NFC south had three team with 10+ wins. Atlanta started 4-4 but found some footing to end the year going 6-2 with two huge home wins over the Saints and Panthers. Julio Jones ended the year with 88 rec 1,444 yards but only 3 TDs and the running back duo of Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman both topped 900 total yards.

The Falcons are the only NFC team to return to the playoffs from last year. But the 2017 playoffs will be a lot tougher for them to navigate if they hope to make a 2nd straight Super Bowl appearance. Last year they had to only win 2 home games this year they will have to win 3 road games.

Offensive MVP: Julio Jones

Defensive MVP: Deion Jones
