Cam Newton came into the 2017 season after shoulder surgery in the off season that hadn’t fully healed. He hadn’t thrown a football until practice for week 1’s game. To no ones surprised he and the team struggled to open the year and they also lost All-pro tight end Greg Olsen to a foot Injury. Even though the team didnt play their best they did start 4-1 with a huge win in Foxboro over the Patriots.
The drafting of Stanford stand out running back Christian McCaffrey has given this ball club a new way to attack defenses as he has came on to scene in a big way. The rookie ended the season with over 75 receptions and over 1,000 total yards. The teams trade of WR Kelvin Benjamin has cleared a path for Devin Funchess to step in and show he has the ability and work ethic to be a legit #1 receiver in the NFL.
Newton has found his MVP form again and with Olsen being healthy, Funchess stepping up and McCaffrey making plays this team has aspirations of getting back to the big game in February but winning it this time. They will have to go through teams like Philly and New Orleans who they are 0-3 against this season.
Offensive MVP: Cam Newton
Defensive MVP: Luke Kuechly
