NFL Divisional Weekend: #2 PITTSBURGH STEELERS vs #3 JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS
NFL DIVISIONAL WEEKEND MATCH UP
#2 PITTSBURGH STEELERS vs #3 JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS
(Sunday January 14th, 2018 1:05 pm EST CBS)
The Steelers will look for redemption in what ultimately will be a rematch of Week 5, when the Jaguars traveled to Pittsburgh and walked away with a 30-9 blowout win. Leonard Fournette had his best rushing game of the season, rumbling for 181 yards and punching in 2 TDs.
Blake Bortles only had 14 passing attempts in the game and the Jaguars may look to replicate that if they expect to keep the game close. He didn’t look good in last week’s wild card game but was able to move the chains and kill clock with his legs. Keeping his turnovers to a minimum is still the key to success if the Jaguars plan on moving deeper into the playoffs.
Pittsburgh will be able to rejoice because Antonio Brown will finally be back from his calf injury. Along with an emerging Juju Smith-Schuster, as well as one of the league’s best RBs in Le’Veon Bell, the Jaguars will have their hands full on Sunday. They’ll have to find ways to make plays and get stops if they plan to get out of Pittsburgh with the win. They were able to put a ton of pressure on Ben Roethlisberger earlier this year, forcing him to throw 5 interceptions.
Beating Pittsburgh twice at home in the same season will be a tall task for the Jaguars. Their defense will have to prove to be the ex-factor by getting to Big Ben as much as possible. For the Steelers it’s more simple: their playmakers will have to make plays.
The deciding factor will come down to experience, which favors the Steelers. They’re not new to this time of year and will pull out the win in a tightly scored affair.
