ScarecrowGrin’s Fantasy Football 2 cents ( 9/20/18 )

Welcome back to ScarecrowGrin’s Fantasy Football 2 cents. Week 2 is a thing of the past so let’s take a look at some of the performances.

Let’s start this off with the most asked question in fantasy football over the past two weeks. IS PATRICK MAHOMES AND THIS KANSAS CITY OFFENSE FOR REAL ??? Our answer is yes, this cannon having, athletic gunslinger makes all the throws and has enough arm to catch up with the Speedy Tyreek Hill. These two along with Kareem Hunt, Travis Kelce and Andy Reid’s Play calling has taken the NFL and fantasy football by storm to start this season.

Mahomes ( 52.84 PPR points ) dropped 6 TDs on the Pittsburgh Steelers hapless defense in a 42-37 shoot out win. Tight End Travis Kelce ( 29.90 PPR points ) followed up his 1.60 scoring output of week 1 with a 7 catch 109 yard and 2 touchdown day. On the other side of this points bonanza was Big Ben Roethlisberger ( 46.98 PPR points ) who threw for 452 yards and 3 touchdowns. He even added a rushing touchdown for good measure. The Chiefs high flying offense and their sub par defense should make it obvious to all fantasy owners to start all your players involved in any Kansas city game this year. That means on their Team and the opponents team.

The Minnesota Vikings had a trio that left Fantasy owners smiling this past weekend. Kirk Cousins ( 43.50 PPR points ), Stefon Diggs ( 35.90 PPR points ) and Adam Thielen ( 31.10 PPR points ) combined for 110.50 points in their tie with the rival Green bay Packers.

In NFC South news……… Running Back Christian McCaffrey ( 27.90 PPR points ) hauled in 14, thats right 14 passes from his Quarterback Cam Newton ( 35.60 PPR points ) in a loss to the Falcons where QB Matt Ryan ( 34.68 PPR points ) scored 4 total TDs. Drew Brees ( 21.62 PPR points ) and wide out Michael Thomas ( 30.90 PPR points ) continued their assault on NFL defenses as they squeaked out a win vs the Browns. Last and definitely not least, Ryan “FitzMagic” Fitzpatrick ( 39.98 PPR points ) carved up the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles defense to the tune of 402 yards and 4 TDs

Other big performances include Todd Gurley’s 32.30, JuJu Smith-Schuster’s 31.10 and 30.60 from Melvin Gordon.

Week 2 Breakout Candidate Results

QB – Alex Smith – 13.08 PPR points

RB – Tevin Coleman – 16.50 PPR points

WR – Cole Beasley – 3.30 PPR points

This wasn’t a good week for my breakout Candidates. Tevin Coleman helped us save face after a stinker from Alex Smith and a flat out no show from Cole Beasley but week 3 will be far more productive.

Week 3 Breakout Candidates

QB – Jimmy Garoppolo – @ Chiefs

RB – Giovani Bernard – @ Panthers

WR – Marvin Jones Jr – vs Patriots

We are very confident that these three guys will assist you in getting a win in your week 3 match up. Be sure to swing by next Thursday to see how our Breakout Candidates faired.
