ScarecrowGrin’s Fantasy Football 2 Cents ( 12/6/18 ) Playoff Edition Week 1
By” Robert L. Porter Jr
In alot of leagues the Fantasy Football regular season has come to a close. We sincerely hope that you are one of your leagues playoff teams moving on to compete for a championship.
Patrick Mahomes (41.00 PPR points) and Travis Kelce (40.80 PPR points) led the Chiefs to a 40-33 win against the Raiders despite the team losing starting running back Kareem Hunt due to domestic violence issues. Mahomes threw 4 more TDs to take his total over 40 for the year and 2 of those went to Kelce. Those were the only 2 players in the 40+ fantasy points club this week but Tarik Cohen (38.64 PPR points) was right on the doorstep with a huge game vs the Giants in a losing effort.
Todd Gurley (31.50 PPR points) and Christian McCaffery (32.10 PPR points) had games we’ve grown accustomed to seeing but undrafted rookie Philip Lindsay (30.90 PPR points) who wasn’t thought to be on that level in fantasy football is making his case as he had his first 30+ point game of his young fantasy career but his 6th game scoring over 15. He is also on a 3 game streak of scoring 17 or more PPR points. (Lindsay is the type of guy that can pay big dividends in your fantasy playoffs)
This past weeks sunday night football game saw 2 of the better NFL wide outs put on a show as the Chargers traveled the Pittsburgh and defeated the Steelers after trailing by as many as 16 points. Keenan Allen (36.80 PPR points) hauled in 14 receptions for 148 yards and an acrobatic TD that was tipped in the air by 2 Steeler defenders and Antonio Brown (33.40 PPR points) paced his ball club with 10 catches for 154 yards and a TD.
In what’s become a weekly installment, we take a look at a few players that put up huge numbers but was started in just about 0.0% of fantasy football leagues. 49ers QB-WR combo of Nick Mullens (28.66 PPR points) and Dante Pettis (29.70 PPR points) looked like the old Montana to Rice days (not really) against the Seahawks but they ultimately lost the game. Josh Allen (32.74 PPR points) is looking like the reincarnation of Michael Vick (and again……. Not really lol) as he ran for 135 yards against Miami. In his last 2 games he has a total of 234 rushing yards so lets just say this kid can scoot.
WEEK 13 BREAKOUT CANDIDATES REVIEW
QB – Lamar Jackson – 16.50 PPR points
RB – Austin Ekeler – 9.30 PPR points
WR – D.J. Moore – 10.50 PPR points
Lamar Jackson totalled 200 yards and a TD but his passing ssems to be taking lo ger to develop than we expected. Austin Ekeler was out shined by Justin Jackson who turned his 9 touches into 82 yards and a TD. D.j. Moore fell victim to a bad Cam Newton game due to a bad Cam Newton throwing shoulder. Newton threw 4 interceptions in this one and that basically killed everyones production not named Christian McCaffery. All 3 of out Breakout Candidates had respectable games but we are looking for the big payoff and unfortunately this week wasnt that.
QB – Jameis Winston – vs Saints
RB – Jaylen Samuels – @ Raiders
WR – Jordy Nelson – vs Steelers
We wish you the best in week 1 of the fantasy football playoffs and we hope one if not all of our Breakout Candidates can assist you in getting a win and moving on to the next round. Stop by next week to see how our players faired in week 14. Thanks for listening to our 2 cents.
