2019 NFL Draft Prospect: MONTEZ SWEAT
School: Mississippi state
Montez is a physical speciment, at 6’6 and 260lbs he has the strength to over power opposing tackles but he also has very good hands to shed a blocker in his pursuit of the ball. You knew we were going to mention his 4.42 speed didn’t you? (A combine record for defensive lineman) this speed combined with the power we already spoke about makes him a very intriguing 1st round prospect.
Montez was diagnosed with a heart condition but wasnt restricted from any workouts leading up to the draft. With that said when you hear “heart condition” it will always raise eyebrows. When a defensive end is as tall as Sweat is, there’s always a question about flexibility or “bendiness” in regards to getting low enough to the ground so he can turn the corner and get the quarterback. Also, sweat will need to continue to grow his pass rush moves if he wishes to be a double digit sack guy like he was last year at Mississippi state.
